soon I'll become the prey of decay
beneath a blur
that extends and fades
into nothing

is this what dying feels like?
yet I am still alive
it's just that life is pouring out
as if I were a breathing ruin
letting out last beats of a sooted heart
a single tear of pure gold

reflecting what I deserved to want
ignite the day with human warmth
and if you wanted, you would find it
making your spark the flame in me

cold, scarred lips
surely could use a tender kiss
in this heavy dark

to no avail
from this abyss
you won't hear my cries

at least if I were crucified
the world would see my sacrifice

unsolder this bright dream
subject to permanent deconstruction
a disassemblage of me
dismantle every structure

foundations are now split
punctured by bent piles
clean ceilings lose their form
crushing dissolving marble piers

turn off the lamps and blow out candles
smash and shatter every window
melt down the metals
and bring down the curtain

despondent, extinguished
falling apart
fire put out
buried alive
in ashes, like ember
